Power Drill

Power Drill

On my webpage I list four Power Tools for the Home, a Drill, Electric Screwdriver, Reciprocating Saw and an Orbital Sander.

However, I will concentrate on the Drill. I believe, that the drill, is one of the first power tools a homeowner will buy. Why? It’s the most recognized and in my opinion, most people are more familiar with the Drill than any other Power Tool. Plus, well, lets face it, they need to drill a hole.

 Drill Features

Drills can be bought either corded or uncorded. They both have many of the same features. One of them is variable speed. What is is variable speed and what is it for?  Depending on how much pressure you  squeeze the trigger with, you can control the RPM . You can begin slow to start a hole or if used as a screw gun to start  a screw, then increase the speed by squeezing the trigger tighter.

Another feature is a reverse switch. You use this to back out bits or take out screws. Many drills also have what is called a “dual range switch” which will make you capable of switching to high speed to drill holes and to a slower speed with a higher torque for fastening.

Drills also come in two sizes. The chuck(where the drill bit goes in) comes in either 3/8″ or 1/2″ size. The larger size chuck can accommodate a larger bit, and is a more powerful drill. It is more commonly found in a corded model though they do have cordless models also.

I hope you found  the information above helpful. If you have any questions or  comments, please use the comment box below.
