Power Tools for the home is created for home owners that want to tackle projects around the house and have a pretty good idea what kind of tools they might need but aren’t sure what type should be bought. Whether you are doing something simple and light or a little more complex that will entail heavy duty work will determine what type of tool you should buy. You’ll want tools that are capable of handling a variety of jobs rather than buying different tools every time a new project is started.
Hand tools have their place and are necessary, however, power tools can be used to do a large portion of that job in a shorter amount of time. You should practice using your power tools if you’re not used to them so you can start to develop a feel for them. This comes with use. To give you an example, how many times have you seen, whether on television or in person or maybe you’ve done it yourself, putting screws in a dry wall and the screw is driven in too far? Once you’ve developed a feel for the tool, in this case a screw gun or drill with a screw bit in it, you’ll know when to release the trigger. Any tool you have, whether hand tool or power tool, use them to get a feel for them so you can do your task at hand easier.
Hi Brian,
interesting subject. Besides drills most power tools scare me. I’m OK with drills. Any suggestions on what tools are a must have for homeowners. Just curious. Thanks for this
Hello Peter, sorry for the delay in responding to you. I was unable to use my computer. Most homeowners don’t have projects, but should have the basic tools such as a flat head screw driver, a Phillips screwdriver, claw hammer, tape measure, pliers such as a regular type, needle nose and possibly a set such as channel lock pliers. These tools are basic and should come in handy for any lite work that should come up, such as tightening screws, hanging pictures, changing receptacles and light switches. I don’t see any need for power tools to do this type of work. Thank you. Brian
